Jason Robert Brown's dynamic musical comes to the Talking Horse stage to open the 2014 seaon! Brown says, "It's about oe moment. it's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back." Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories about Fifth Avenue to meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage. These are the stories and characters of today, the SONGS OF A NEW WORLD. Directed by Trent Rash, musical direction by Cheryl Nichols, and featuring Brandon Sankpill, Robin Anderson, Phil Howard, and Sarah Neeley Culp.
The production opens February 14 and will have six performances: 14, 15, 16, and 21, 22, 23. Performances begin at 7:30 except for Sundays. The February 16 performance starts at 6pm; the February 23 performance begins at 2pm. The box office and the house open thirty minutes prior to the start of the performance. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors 65+ and students. Season passes (six punches) are available for $60 and $50.
